Djokovic's title at the Madrid Open equaled Rafael Nadal's record which also won 33 ATP Masters 1000 trophies. Djokovic also carved a record 200th victory over Top 10 ranking players (200-90). "The best tournament, a big tournament in our sport, at ATP, next to the Grand Slam," said Djokovic. "It's important and good to be able to achieve it," continued the player who was familiarly called Noel.

Djokovic came to Caja Magica with a failure to win the championship in three tournaments after lifting the Australian Open Grand Slam trophy. Djokovic found his best level of play at the Madrid Open. The 31-year-old became a champion with a record he never lost at the Madrid Open like when he won in 2011 and 2016.

''I am very happy. The semi-final victory was very, very important to increase my confidence. I can't show the best game after (champions) in Australia. So, I have to regain this pecan momentum. I started well. I did not lose the set throughout the tournament, I was very happy. "I played one of my best tennis games," he explained.

This victory makes Djokovic more comfortable as the world number 1 with an additional 1,000 ATP points. That success simultaneously inflated the coffers of his wealth after receiving a prize of 1,202,520 euros.
