Reheating the Jerez Circuit Makes Frustrated MotoGP Tire Suppliers
Supplier of MotoGP tires, Michelin has arrived at Jerez to welcome the first European series. This will be a big challenge for Michelin technicians because the track that has 13 corners has been re-paved.
Asphalting this will certainly provide another aspect considering Michelin has very little data regarding the type of tire that will be given to the racers while performing at the Jerez Circuit. Therefore, the French tire company has prepared four components to spoil the racers in three different classes.
That was as stated by the manager, Piero Taramasso. The four types of tire compound in question are soft, medium, and two types of hard tire tires. This is designed to give racers plenty of choices to get optimum performance from the motorbike.
For the front, Michelin has provided soft, medium and two hard compounds. Everything with a symmetrical design, while the rear tire will display an asymmetrical design with the right side that is harder to overcome the eight right turns that will provide extra demands on the tire compared to the five left turns.
"This weekend will be an important test for Michelin because we have not had sufficient data on this track since returning to MotoGP in 2016. Coupled with re-paving since we conducted testing in November 2018. Under these circumstances, we are allowed to bring more many types of tire compounds, "Taramasso said on Wednesday (1/5/2019).
"So we have chosen a range that we believe will fit the circuit asphalt from the information we had last year and have been received from the company that has done the work. We believe we have the right compound for new surfaces and hope to race in Europe after the initial busy for this season after undergoing three initial races, "concluded Taramasso. { SOURCE }
