Guardiola Compare Liverpool with Barcelona Era Luis Enrique
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola regards Liverpool as the best team he has faced throughout his coaching career. Guardiola compared Liverpool at the moment with Barcelona in the era of Coach Luis Enrique.
Man City and Liverpool are involved in the 2018/2019 Premier League title race. Liverpool at the top of the standings with 94 points or two points ahead of the defending champions. However, Guardiola's troops have one match in hand and meet Leicester City at Etihad Stadium on Monday (05/06/2019) local time or Tuesday (05/07/2019) early morning hrs.
Liverpool have only lost once in the league this season and they have also qualified for the Champions League semi-finals, and Guardiola called Juergen Klopp's team in the same breath as the 2014/20115 treble winning team Barcelona.
"In my career as a coach, I played against an extraordinary team," Guardiola told the Telegraph as reported by Reuters. "There are two, 'Wow'. One of them is Barcelona under coach Luis Enrique, with Neymar, (Lionel) Messi and (Luis) Suarez up front."
"The other is Liverpool at the moment. I think they are the two best teams I've faced as managers. That's why, arriving at this stage, after 100 points (last season), is the greatest satisfaction I have ever had as a manager."
Guardiola also praised the strength of his troops to bounce back to the title race when they found themselves seven points behind league leaders in January.
"When you are seven points behind, you can say, 'It's finished' and just think, 'We succeeded last season'," added Guardiola. "But we did the opposite."
"The difference is Liverpool. We did the same work (like last season). What amazing we have done, but it would make more sense if we were able to lift the Premier League trophy." The Spanish coach, who previously handled Barcelona and Bayern Munich, said the English Premier League was the toughest league he had ever experienced. "It's the toughest league I've ever played as a manager, for the quality of rivals, there's no doubt about it," said Guardiola.
"That's why being there is amazing, but, of course, only one will take the trophy and the other will be at home in sadness." { SOURCE }
