Former PGA Championship Golfers Shown Absence 101st Edition
United States golfer Justin Thomas has to bury his ambition to be a champion at the 2019 PGA Championship. The former champion had to withdraw from the prestigious golf championship after suffering a wrist injury.
Thomas became one of the favorites in the 101st edition of the PGA Championship this year following his good performance at the start of 2019. He was listed in the Top 10 four times in five events this year. Thomas's position will be replaced by compatriot Kelly Kraft who is ranked 192 in the world.
The 26-year-old golfer who is now ranked fifth in the world won the PGA Championship in 2017 at Quail Hollow. Wrist injury also forced him to miss Wells Fargo Championship earlier this month. Previously, he had appeared at the Masters in Augusta, where he finished 12th.
His decision to miss the 2019 PGA Championship which will be held at Bethpage Black Course, Long Island, New York, USA, was uploaded on Twitter. "It's very unfortunate, I withdrew from the 101st PGA Championship at Bethpage Black this week because my wrist hasn't recovered. "In fact, as a golfer who has won, this tournament is very special for me," he said.
He hopes to recover his wrist injury as soon as possible. "Consistency is very decisive in golf and I am disappointed that I cannot compete this year but I am optimistic that I will return in the future," he explained. { SOURCE }
